Services Available

Post by MattWarner »

At the annual meeting, members asked for a topic that posted about professional services available to community members. Because only those that register with the forum can post to it, and to register with the forum, one either needs to live here or be a lot owner, a services-available topic would be good to know about from fellow neighbors without receiving loads of spam.

Feel free to post services that could be useful to the community, including services that you may offer. Community members, recognize that this is for information sharing only, and you use any services that others post at your own risk.

For these trying times where we are all stuck in our houses, I know of two services that may be of particular use to the community right now.

First, wine delivery!! DCanter in DC delivers wine straight to your door in two ways: either by ordering online or by subscribing to their concierge services, which curate wines to your particular tastes. I have subscribed to their concierge service for years now. This is what they say on their Facebook page in response to COVID-19:

"--You can now shop wines online! We have re-activated our online website, so you can still purchase wines in the comfort of your home. Orders of $75+ (pretax) will get free delivery!!!! Deliveries are available inside of the beltway in DC and VA (sorry, no MD deliveries available at this time). Please visit www.dcanterwines.com/shop to start wine shopping! What could be more fun??

We will be updating our product selections throughout the week and installing a chat functionality so that you can continue to get expert guidance from our wine associates.

--We will deliver wines from these online orders and through our Concierge by DCanter service (www.dcanterwines.com/concierge). If you’d like a wine concierge to personally hand-select wines for you based on your taste and budget, then this is the service for you! For our current Concierge clients, we will continue to work hard for you--curating and delivering your monthly wines. Note, you can request additional deliveries with no added charges as unlimited curation is part of your Concierge benefit. Just contact the shop or your wine concierge to request a curation."

Second, scotch delivery via The Scotch Malt Whisky Society of America! I have just started my subscription with these folks, but do have one delivery under my belt. shipping can be expensive with them, but they are waiving the shipping fee through the end of the month, which may be useful for those of us low and scotch but not wanting to venture out. from a recent SMWSA email:

"We understand that while our ability to engage in person may be limited, our passion for exploring single cask whisky remains as strong as ever. To help you continue this journey while at home, we have decided to cover the shipping cost on all orders placed through March 31, 2020 beginning today at 1:00PM ET. For a Society like ours, this is a significant additional cost to incur, but we feel these exceptional circumstances call for exceptional support for our members. Please note this offer applies only to Ground Shipping and does not cover expedited shipping methods.

For questions or if you’d simply like to share your own whisky experiences at home with us, we invite you to contact our team by email at info@smwsa.com, by phone during regular business hours at (646) 844-1154 or on Instagram at @smwsamerica.

Slàinte mhath,

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society of America"

Good luck getting through this strange time, everyone. Stay safe!

Need a green energy solution such as solar panels or a car charger installed? Co-founder and CEO of Ipsun Solar, Herve Billiet, is one of our neighbors. Ipsun Solar is still offering services during the pandemic while taking precautions to protect you and his team. If interested, Herve encourages you to read about his company's COVID-19 response here: https://www.ipsunsolar.com/covid-19/
